POST 2 week 2 readings What is Podcasting?

Podcasting is a new technology, anyone by using internet can download and listening to the content. The mp3 digital file can be downloading to the computer and transfer to the mp3 player and IPod. It can content music, radio, and also the records from lectures. It is easily for making and publish can be listen in anytime, anywhere, podcasting also been called personal broadcasting.

The podcasting is easily too been use “slow users to listen to exactly what they want, when they want, and where they want.” This makes the user getting audio easily and making more flexibility for the public user.

The RSS (Really simple Syndication) allows the podcast content and syndicate instantly on the internet for download doses by the public. This allows the public without checking daily or weekly on news, and it just shows on the RSS part in the blog, to available one-time downloads.

This new technology influences the media industry, for example the television, advertising, education, and book and magazine publishers and also for legal system and commerce.

The blog makes media more effective and involved the posting for the public, mp3 player and IPod makes user manager their music file much more easily.

POST 1 Own understanding of Citizen Journalism

In today’s society there are more people to choose using blog to posting news, photos and their personal information on it. In Google or Yahoo typed in any key words there are millions of the result will listing. There are some advantages and disadvantages for using blog and also citizen journalism.

Firstly, blog is a “personal space” for anyone to write anything on it, that is anonymity. It is a good way for free expression but in other hand the writer can be anyone, they are not professional journalists, the reliability of the news is a problem.

Secondly, the camera phone becomes more rifeness, people just see anything and grab their phone to take photos then posting on their own blog. It becomes a privacy problem. The person been taken the photo may or may not know it and their photo just been post on internet and anyone can search and see it.

Not just negative things but also some positive, in early of this year, there’s huge report news on China’s earthquake in Si Chuan. When the earthquake happened, there are some high school students in locale and using their camera phone to recording and posting on their own blog. For this, it is good news for this disaster, when media and reporter did not go to locale someone else did their job to provide the news to others.

Citizen journalism is an anonymity thing, anyone can post anything they think that is news, and this has some positive and negative impact for the society and media industry.

In the 2nd half of the class few people ask me how to get that pet and put into blog...they all get different one...and looks all sooooo cute!!
